PostBlue What were you doing at 8:46am on 9/11/01?

Tomorrow marks the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 and I would like this thread to serve as a reminder to all of the brave/innocent men/women that we lost on that tragic day.

    ------------------------------------------

I was a Sophomore in High School. I was still sleeping at the time as I lived in California at the time. My mother woke me up in a fit to show me that the first plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. 10 minutes later as I was watching the TV, I saw with my own eyes the second plan crash.

I will never forget the day as long as I live. I remember being in school all day and none of the teachers being allowed to have their TVs on. The school had set a policy to try to make the school day as normal as possible.

I'm Canadian and it was still a pretty "crazy" school day. I was in... Grade 5, I think. Was in my classroom and over the PA system was an announcement for the older kids to go to a certain room.

    Was still quite the impact.

5th grade, gym class in Plano, Texas.
We were released out of school as soon as the first tower fell.

Though, I can say with full honesty as a 10/11 year old, I didn't full understand the magnitude of what happened, to me, watching the videos had the same effect on me as if I were to watch a movie.
Years later, I obviously understood, and started to feel the "Human" effect of it all, realizing that there were actual people on the planes/buildings.
Hearing the phone calls on youtube is pretty heartbreaking, and I still get emotional when I hear the Kevin Cosgrove phonecall, to hear how worried he is and his reactions in his final moments always gets to me, and, when you hear his scream as the tower begins to fall pretty much stops my heart every single time.

Very, very sad day even 10 years later... However, I am PROUD to be an American and a citizen of the United States and just like everything else, we will continue to prevail.

I was just shocked at that moment, and then big sorrow came. God bless you, people have passed away on the day!
