Default Best Way to Get a Higher Vertical?

So, does anyone have any recommendations as to how I can increase my vertical jump? I want to start dunking in basketball, and can currently grab rim. I'm 6' 3", if that matters.

I was told I need to build some core strength, so, in addition to that, what do I need to do? Lastly, do you recommend nay exercises for building up my core strength and strengthening my fast twitch leg muscles?

I'm 6'0 even and can dunk.

Mind you basic dunking, nothing fancy.

I have this 60 pound vest that I used to wear to play basketball which would add resistance to when I jumped to strengthen my legs.

Squats, biking, doing anything leg work should help.

I would start looking into some serious high-end plyometric work. That is where you are going to see your best results.

Step 1) Squats (with weight, get your legs stronger)

    Step 2) Plyomother****ingmetrics

Step 3) Visualization (the Michael Jordan method)

    Rinse and repeat
    I play life... professionally.

Find a good sized set of stairs (not too long, something you can run up and down multiple times without tiring your self out too quickly) and do this series of excersises.

Step 1 - Quick up and down (5 reps)
Step 2 - Two foot leap up , quick down. (5 reps)
Step 3 - Quick up, every second stair, quick down. (5 reps)
Step 4 - Two foot leap up, every second stair, quick down. (5 reps)
Step 5 - Quick up, every third stair, quick down, every second stair.
Stpe 6 - Two foot leap up, every third stair, quick down, every second stair.

(If you cannot do every second stair instead do 10 more reps of quick up, quick down using all of the energy you have left)

This is what we did as Plyometrics for Rugby, its effective, you don't have to go to a gym or pay for any fancy equipment, and you can tailor it to suit your capabilities.
